ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is a family owned and operated business run by lifelong Wyoming residents, with close to twenty years of guiding experience in the region. They now run four well-established camps across western Wyoming. The country there holds strong populations of elk, moose, bear, and mountain lion, which gives hunters real range in what they can pursue. Horses are central to how this operation works, and theirs are specially bred to be strong, sure-footed, and gentle, which matters enormously in broken terrain. Tack and equipment are kept in good order rather than run into the ground. The guides are experienced and invested, and the standard they hold themselves to is full effort every day of a hunt.

HUNT DETAILS:
This is a black bear hunt in some of the best bear country western Wyoming has to offer, run out of a wall tent camp. For a lot of this outfitter's clients, bear camp has become a yearly tradition, and it is easy to see why. A week spent with friends sitting active baits on good ground is about as relaxed as western hunting gets, and the camaraderie is a real part of what brings people back. Two approaches are available. Hunters can sit over bait, which the outfitter maintains carefully throughout, or they can hunt spot and stalk for anyone who would rather cover ground and look for bears feeding in the open. Either style works here, and hunters can pick based on preference. Horses handle the transportation, and the sure-footed stock this outfitter breeds makes moving through mountain terrain manageable. Bear numbers in these mountains are strong, which is why this hunt has held up as a tradition.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Camp is a well-organized wall tent setup with wood stoves, new cots, and a real shower stall, which is more comfort than most bear camps offer. Hearty home-cooked meals are provided daily. Hunters get around on the outfitter's specially bred horses, sure-footed animals well suited to mountain terrain, which makes reaching bait sites and glassing points far easier than walking would be. The bait sites themselves are maintained carefully and kept active, and that upkeep is a large part of why this hunt produces. Between the camp, the food, and the horses, hunters can focus on the hunting and leave the rest to the crew.
