ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is a family owned and operated business run by lifelong Wyoming residents, with close to twenty years of guiding experience in the region. They now run four well-established camps across western Wyoming. The country there holds strong populations of elk, moose, bear, and mountain lion, which gives hunters real range in what they can pursue. Horses are central to how this operation works, and theirs are specially bred to be strong, sure-footed, and gentle, which matters enormously in broken terrain. Tack and equipment are kept in good order rather than run into the ground. The guides are experienced and invested, and the standard they hold themselves to is full effort every day of a hunt.

HUNT DETAILS:
This outfitter has run better than a ninety-five percent success rate on mountain lion over the past twelve years, which is about as strong a track record as exists on cats. Hunts are conducted one on one. Getting to the country takes whatever the conditions call for, and this operation uses four-wheel-drive trucks, ATVs, UTVs, snow machines, and horses to reach remote ground. The hunt itself runs on well-trained hounds. Everything is quiet until a fresh track is cut, and then the pace changes completely once the dogs are released and the chase is on. Hunters should be ready to move fast when the hounds strike, and being in good physical condition is a real advantage at that point. One thing past hunters mention consistently is the wildlife they see along the way, since deer and elk are concentrated on their winter range and visible in numbers that most hunters never witness. That alone adds something to the trip.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in a clean, comfortable ranch house with hot showers and a warm place to recharge after long days out. Lion hunting starts very early, so breakfast is usually grab-and-go, with snacks and food stops through the day rather than sit-down meals. Airport transportation is included, and the guide handles all skinning and hide preparation. The ranch sits about an hour from Jackson Hole, which makes this a good trip to bring a spouse or friend along on. Ski resorts, sleigh rides through the National Elk Refuge, snowmobiling to hot springs, and plenty of shopping and dining are all within reach while the hunting is going on.
