ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This long-established British Columbia operation has been producing high-quality mountain hunts for generations, operating in one of the most productive and game-rich mountain ecosystems in North America. The current ownership continues a legacy that began in the early 1950s, building on decades of intimate knowledge of the terrain, wildlife patterns, and ethical mountain hunting practices. Over time, the operation has been carefully refined through extensive trail development, upgraded camps, and a strong emphasis on personalized, low-pressure hunting experiences.

The outfitter retains exclusive guiding rights across more than 500 square miles of rugged mountain country, spanning elevations from roughly 3,500 feet to over 10,000 feet. Their guiding philosophy centers on fair-chase hunting, honest communication, and realistic expectations, while delivering a safe, comfortable, and highly rewarding experience in exceptional country. Much of their business comes from repeat clients and referrals, reflecting a long-standing reputation for professionalism, consistency, and respect for both wildlife and hunters.

HUNT DETAILS:
Mountain goat hunts are conducted in classic Rocky Mountain alpine terrain comprised of steep cliffs, broken rock faces, avalanche chutes, and high-elevation basins. A series of expansive alpine drainages form the core habitat for a substantial and healthy mountain goat population. It is common for hunters to evaluate twenty to thirty goats—or more—in a single day while glassing basins with binoculars and spotting scopes.

Horses and mules are used to efficiently access remote basins and upper elevations, after which the hunt transitions to foot travel. From these vantage points, guides focus on carefully evaluating billies based on horn length, mass, age, and body characteristics before committing to a stalk. While the terrain is demanding, the hunt generally moves at a deliberate and manageable pace, allowing hunters to enjoy the spectacular scenery while remaining focused on locating a mature billy. Trophy expectations for mountain goats typically range from 9.0” to 9.5”+, with older, heavy-bodied billies being the primary objective.

Mountain goat tags are issued on a strict quota, making these hunts limited and highly sought-after. As a result, hunts are booked well in advance and conducted with a strong conservation-minded approach. Standard hunts are structured as 8-day experiences, with arrival on day one, hunting days two through nine, and departure on day ten. Opportunity rates are exceptionally high, with consistent chances to evaluate multiple legal goats throughout the hunt.

Combination hunts are an excellent option in this area and are strongly encouraged for hunters seeking to maximize their experience. Goat and elk combination hunts are particularly effective, with elk hunted during early mornings and evenings while goats are glassed and evaluated during mid-day hours. Elk are typically in the rut during this timeframe, resulting in very high success rates for both species. Goat and moose combinations take place later in the season, when billies are fully “haired out” and make striking trophies. These hunts are also highly successful and offer a unique late-season mountain experience. Combination hunters may additionally encounter opportunities for trophy black bear, whitetail, or mule deer, which are considered bonus species when time and circumstances allow.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in a combination of well-established main camps and strategically located spike camps, all constructed as comfortable log or cabin-style facilities. Main camps feature solid bunkhouses, cookhouses with full kitchens, and shower facilities with propane-heated hot water—an appreciated luxury after long days in steep country. Foam sleeping pads and pillows are provided, and camps are designed to remain warm, dry, and functional throughout the season.

Spike camps are placed deep within the guiding territory to keep hunters close to productive alpine basins. These camps are also cabin-style and situated in pristine, remote settings. During hunting season, access to all camps is non-motorized, with horses and mules used to pack hunters, gear, and supplies. Expect a truck ride to the trailhead followed by a one- to three-hour horseback trip depending on camp location.

Each main camp hosts a limited number of hunters to ensure a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere and highly personalized service. A full-time cook is stationed in the main camps, providing hot, home-cooked meals throughout the hunt. Camp assignments are based on physical ability, hunt objectives, and client preferences whenever possible.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
All required licenses and species tags are prepared and ready prior to the hunter’s arrival, streamlining the process and allowing hunters to focus entirely on the hunt. Mountain goat hunts require the purchase of a non-resident hunting license, applicable conservation fees, and the appropriate species tag. Combination hunts require additional species tags, which are arranged in advance based on the hunter’s selected package.

A deposit of one-third of the hunt fee is required to secure a booking, with the remaining balance due prior to departure to camp. Licenses, tags, conservation fees, taxes, travel to and from camp, and any taxidermy or shipping costs are the responsibility of the hunter unless otherwise specified. All pricing is quoted in U.S. funds, and trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

Following a successful harvest, the outfitter assists with all meat care, trophy preparation, and export documentation. Hides are properly field-prepped, bagged, and salted or frozen as needed, and guidance is provided for taxidermy and shipping to ensure trophies are handled professionally and efficiently.
