AUSTIN ATKINSON PROFESSIONAL HUNT ADVISOR VP OF OPERATIONS W hen the gyms are full of new faces and soda sales are down for a few weeks, you must know it’s January. New Year’s resolutions are still new and our minds are filled with fresh hope. This may be the year you lose those few extra pounds, or the year you hold your first grandchild, or the year you draw that coveted big game tag. No matter your goals, make sure to find time to sit down and map out an application plan as early as possible. The tools and research available to you are limitless in this day and age. January, to me, means draw odds and budgets. If I fail to plan now, I could miss critical draw deadlines or let sweet opportunities pass me by. Make sure to study the state sections in this issue and give us a call for a personal consultation. AUSTIN AND HIS CLIENT, JOHN BESS,WITH JOHN’S 2016 ARCTIC GRIZZLY 10 AUSTIN’S TENT IN NORTHWEST ALASKA This past fall season was one I shall never forget. I punched a few tags, but the highlight was the time spent with so many family members and new hunters in the field. I find happiness in teaching hunters how to find their own joy in hunting. Although not all of our trips ended with filled game bags, the memories and laughs shared made every sacrifice worthwhile. I made sure to stop and “smell the roses” and find time to enjoy each sunset. One of the most special experiences of my life happened this September while above the Arctic Circle in Alaska. We were outside around midnight, fleshing a grizzly bear hide, when it was as if someone flipped on the light switch for the most spectacular Aurora Borealis show I’ve ever seen or heard of. For almost an hour we laid on our backs on the tundra in amazement at the light show surrounding us. This past fall, I had the privilege of putting together the hunt selection for this Membership Drive with assistance from the other Professional Hunt Advisors. We have selected some of the most difficult hunts to acquire, many of which have been booked for over a year. The lucky winners will have a chance at some of the best hunt dates available for each species. If you have a friend or family member who would benefit from a Huntin’ Fool membership, make sure to refer them to us and you’ll get two ticket entries. Remember, this is a real drawing for real hunts that we have paid full price for in advance. These hunts are not donated or discounted to Huntin’ Fool. This ensures that you will have a one-of-a-kind experience. Do yourself a favor and get entered into this exclusive drawing.
