ABOUT OUTFITTER:
Huntin’ Fool Adventures is proud to represent this family-owned and operated British Columbia outfitting operation situated in one of the most ecologically diverse landscapes in western Canada. The concession spans from rugged alpine terrain to open breaks and timbered slopes, creating ideal habitat for a wide range of big game species. This diversity allows for strong wildlife populations and exceptional hunting opportunity year after year.
Built on a foundation of responsible wildlife management, regulated harvest, and ethical stewardship, this outfitter has established a reputation as a premier mountain hunting destination. Careful predator management and selective harvest practices ensure healthy age structure and long-term sustainability across all species, including an abundant black bear population.
Ownership brings decades of hands-on wilderness experience, global guiding background, and a deep passion for mountain hunting. Their philosophy centers on respect for the land, the animals, and the traditions of hunting. Every hunt is conducted with the belief that pursuing mature animals in wild country is both a privilege and a responsibility. Their goal is to deliver a true Canadian wilderness experience—authentic, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
HUNT DETAILS:
Black bear hunting in this concession offers outstanding density, strong success rates, and exceptional hide quality in both spring and fall seasons.
Average bears square between 6 and 7 feet, with larger bears exceeding 7.5 feet taken on a consistent basis. Typical skull measurements range from 18 to 21 inches. Color phase bears—including brown and blonde variations—are commonly encountered, giving hunters a legitimate opportunity at unique trophy coloration.
The habitat is ideally suited for black bear production. A high number of historic logging cutblocks have created lush feeding areas rich in grasses, forbs, and berry-producing vegetation. These openings become prime feeding zones, especially in the spring when bears emerge from hibernation having lost 25–30% of their body weight. Fall hunts can also produce heavy-bodied bears with excellent hair quality.
Spot-and-stalk is the primary method of pursuit. Hunters glass from elevated vantage points, identifying feeding bears in open slopes and cutblocks before making a calculated stalk on foot. Travel is accomplished using 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, and highly effective E-bikes. The E-bikes offer a major advantage by allowing hunters to quietly cover significant country along deactivated logging roads, often catching bears feeding or bedded without alerting them to human presence.
Hounds are available upon prior arrangement and are typically reserved for specialized hunts or recovery situations.
These hunts are generally not physically demanding and can be tailored to meet the hunter’s preference. Whether seeking a relaxed mountain hunt with steady opportunity or focusing on locating a mature, trophy-class bear, the experience can be customized accordingly. Fall black bear hunts also pair well with mule deer opportunities for those looking to combine species.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Most hunts operate from a comfortable base camp located in the heart of prime bear country. Following the loss of the original lodge to wildfire, a new camp has been established and continues to be improved each season.
Current accommodations feature insulated permanent wall tents with solid flooring and partial wall construction. Each tent includes lighting, wood stoves with propane heater backup, and real memory foam mattresses for added comfort. A main cook tent serves as the central gathering space, complete with a dining area, kitchen facilities, and an attached shower room. Power is supplied via generator, allowing for device charging and WiFi access when running.
Camp comfortably accommodates up to six hunters at a time, providing a personalized and well-managed experience. An additional insulated cabin with private heat and shower facilities is also available.
Depending on bear location and hunting strategy, spike camps may be utilized. These range from well-equipped wall tent setups with cooking capability and portable shower units to lightweight backpack-style mountain camps designed for mobility. Spike camps are positioned strategically in high-probability bear habitat to maximize opportunity.

Black bear hunts are conducted under British Columbia’s licensed guide outfitter system. Non-resident hunters are required to hunt with a registered outfitter and will receive the appropriate species license and tag allocation through the outfitter.
Both spring and fall seasons are available, with timing selected based on hide quality, feeding patterns, and hunter preference. Specialized options such as hound-assisted hunts must be arranged well in advance.

HUNT DETAILS:
Southern British Columbia has long been recognized as one of North America’s premier destinations for mountain lion hunting. This concession consistently produces big, mature toms weighing 150–190 pounds, with skulls measuring 14–15 inches taken annually. High cat densities, extensive road systems, and optimal winter tracking conditions make this a highly effective and exciting pursuit.
All hunts are conducted with experienced guides and well-trained hounds. A combination of snowmobiles and 4x4 vehicles are used to locate fresh tracks after snowfall. Once a suitable track is cut, the hounds are released in hot pursuit. From that moment forward, the hunt becomes fast-paced and physically demanding. Hunters should expect periods of downtime while searching for tracks, followed by intense bursts of activity when the chase begins.
Reaching a treed cat may require snowshoeing or hiking through deep snow. Physical preparation is important, as conditions can be challenging. However, hunters who prefer may remain in warm vehicles while guides search for tracks, conserving energy for the final approach.
Hunters may harvest two cougars on a hunt (additional trophy fee applies), though only one may be a mature male. The second must be a management tom or barren female. Lynx and Bobcat may be added with proper licensing and trophy fees. These smaller cats are typically best hunted before mid-January when snow depth remains manageable for hounds.
Wolf and coyote are frequently encountered during winter hunts and may be taken incidentally with the appropriate license and trophy fee.
Hunts are scheduled around optimal snow conditions, and flexibility is strongly recommended. Booking priority is based on deposits received.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Most cougar hunts are conducted from a comfortable and strategically located base camp in the heart of the concession. The one-hour drive into camp offers breathtaking mountain scenery and immediate immersion into prime predator country.
Following a wildfire that destroyed the original lodge, the outfitter has rebuilt operations into a well-appointed permanent wall tent camp while long-term improvements continue. The current base camp comfortably accommodates up to six hunters.
Camp features include: Insulated floor and half-wall permanent wall tents, Memory foam mattresses, Wood stoves with propane heater backup, Lighting and power for charging devices, Heated cook tent with full kitchen and dining area, Attached shower room, Wi-Fi access when generator is running.
An additional insulated cabin sleeping two guests includes private heat and shower facilities. For certain hunts, spike camps may be used in prime locations. These include comfortable wall tents with kitchen facilities and portable shower setups, or lightweight backpack-style mountain tents for remote access situations.
Spike camps are positioned to maximize success and may be relocated using ATV or E-bike depending on terrain and snow conditions.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
All hunters must purchase the appropriate British Columbia hunting license and species tags prior to hunting. Licenses for Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, Wolf, and Coyote may be added to the base hunt package.
Harvest regulations strictly follow provincial wildlife management guidelines. Only one mature male cougar may be taken per hunter. Additional cougars must meet management criteria (young male or barren female). Trophy fees apply upon successful harvest of each animal. Hunts are allocated based on deposit order, and due to snow-dependent conditions, flexible scheduling is encouraged to ensure optimal success.
For hunters seeking an authentic, high-adrenaline winter predator hunt with excellent trophy potential and strong ethical foundations, this British Columbia mountain lion hunt delivers a premier experience.
