This operation is led by a veteran northern guide whose career began as a horse wrangler at age fifteen and has spanned more than two decades in some of the most demanding wilderness on the continent. With over 23 seasons guiding and outfitting, experience includes hundreds of big game animals harvested across Western Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central Asia, with a strong emphasis on mountain species and true wilderness hunting. Years spent learning under top-tier operations shaped a refined, low-pressure system focused on sustainability, hunter success, and quality experiences. After patiently waiting more than a decade to acquire this remote concession, the outfitter now operates in an area that represents the culmination of a lifelong commitment to northern mountain hunting.
HUNT DETAILS:
Mountain caribou hunts are conducted in an extremely remote, roadless wilderness that offers zero resident hunting pressure and a true backcountry experience. Access is achieved by a combination of aircraft, jet boat travel, horseback travel, and backpack hunting, allowing guides to efficiently cover vast terrain while maintaining minimal environmental impact. Hunts run from August 1 through October 1, with caribou trips lasting 10 days in the field and providing a full 8 days of hunting. Caribou numbers can vary by timing and location, but hunters commonly encounter 30 or more animals per area, with occasional sightings exceeding 100 animals. The operation maintains exceptionally high standards, targeting mature bulls with a typical minimum of approximately 370" B&C, and recent seasons have produced multiple bulls exceeding 400" gross. Success rates historically range from 90–100%, with weather being the primary variable.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters begin their trip by flying into a remote base camp before heading into the field for the duration of the hunt. Field accommodations are designed for efficiency and comfort while remaining lightweight and mobile. Backpack hunters stay in individual mountain-style tents, while horseback hunts utilize well-appointed wall tents for cooking and shelter when weather dictates. No hunter is required to share a tent unless requested. Meals in backpack camps consist of high-quality freeze-dried breakfasts and dinners with trail-style lunches, while horseback hunts allow for fresh, cooked meals prepared daily by the guides. All meat care is handled in the field by guides, with further processing, hanging, and freezing completed at base camp before departure.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
All hunting licenses and tags are available over the counter. Once a hunt is confirmed, hunters register online beginning April 1 to obtain their Yukon hunting and fishing licenses, after which tags are secured on their behalf. Each hunter may harvest one animal per species, with mountain caribou being the primary species included in the hunt cost. Wolves and wolverine are included at no charge, with up to three wolves allowed per hunter. Additional species may be taken based on applicable trophy fees. All hunting occurs on government crown land, ensuring exclusive access without private land complications and preserving the integrity of a true public-land wilderness hunt.
