ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has been operating in Sonora, Mexico for many years and has built a reputation on delivering consistently. The operation spans multiple carefully managed ranches in some of the finest Gould's turkey habitat in the country. Year-round conservation and wildlife management sit at the core of the program rather than being bolted on. That means real long-term stewardship, including habitat improvements, predator awareness, and a commitment to sustainable harvest levels, all of which is why turkey numbers here have held up over time. The emphasis is on quality over volume, and the result is a long list of hunters who come back year after year.

HUNT DETAILS:
Gould's turkeys exist in only a narrow range across the southwestern United States and Mexico, and they are the largest and arguably the most striking of the subspecies, with white-tipped tail feathers and iridescent plumage. For Grand Slam hunters they are among the most sought after, which is most of the reason hunters come here. The country is spectacular in its own right, running from desert into oak-covered foothills, rugged canyons, and mountains, with towering cactus, mesquite, and scattered timber throughout. Mornings start well before daylight, with guides positioning hunters near roosts before the birds fly down. Calling carries the hunt from there, and the guides know how to work a vocal gobbler and adapt as conditions change. As the day goes on hunters may relocate to find more responsive birds. Some hunters like to cover ground on foot and call actively, while others prefer a slower pace with strategically placed setups, and the guides work either way. The hunt suits nearly any experience level or physical ability.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging is a ranch house setup with running water, clean and comfortable bedrooms, and hot showers. The food is a highlight. Authentic Mexican cooking prepared by cooks who take real pride in it, with a minimum of three meals a day and plenty of drinks and snacks available at any hour. Nobody goes hungry or thirsty on this trip. Between the ranch house, the food, and the pace of the evenings, the time off the mountain is a real part of the experience rather than just somewhere to wait out the dark.
