ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has desert sheep hunting in Sonora dialed in. They have been at bighorn for many years and have run one hundred percent success to date, which on desert sheep is about as strong a record as exists. The guides live and breathe this hunting and nothing else, and these are real sheep hunts rather than something dressed up as one. The operation works three separate ranches, all of them chosen carefully for what they hold. Each has the feed, the water, and the terrain rams need, and that selectivity is why the results have held up year after year. Hunters looking for a desert ram in Mexico will find the fundamentals in place here.

HUNT DETAILS:
Sonora holds one of the healthiest desert bighorn populations anywhere, and the country runs from rocky ridges down into sweeping valleys. Rams here range from one hundred fifty to one hundred seventy inches and better. The method is spot and stalk built on a great deal of glassing, and hunters should plan on covering a lot of ground by vehicle to reach the right vantage points. That vehicle access is what makes this the most accessible sheep hunt available anywhere. A hunter who is older or not in mountain shape can realistically do this one, which is not true of most sheep hunting. Both rifle and archery hunters are accommodated. Some of these locations are unusually well suited to archery, and the outfitter and every guide on staff are bowhunters themselves, so they understand what a bow hunter needs. The guides know these ranches and the rams on them intimately. Permits are limited and demand is high.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging is a comfortable base camp or ranch house depending on which property is being hunted. Hunters get hot showers, real beds, and the amenities needed to recover between days. The meals are authentic Mexican cooking, prepared on site and served throughout the stay. On a hunt where days are spent glassing in desert heat and covering ground by vehicle, having a solid place to come back to matters more than hunters expect. Everything is arranged by the outfitter, so nothing needs to be booked or coordinated once a hunter arrives in country. It does the job without pretending to be a resort, which suits the character of the hunt.
