ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter runs a guide and outfitting operation with a stated commitment to preserving the resource alongside providing good hunting. They take the role of steward seriously, and that extends to the wildlife, to the landowners who make the access possible, and to the sportsmen who book with them. Hunts are run in Montana and Idaho, on private ranches as well as public ground, and elk, antelope, black bear, and turkey are among the species pursued. First-time western hunters and experienced outdoorsmen are treated with the same care. Whether someone is looking to get their feet wet on a first elk hunt or has done this for decades, the team will help put the trip together.

HUNT DETAILS:
This is black bear hunting on more than forty thousand acres of private land in western Idaho, and the story behind it is what makes it interesting. The property has not been outfitted for bears in years, which means the bears on it have essentially been left alone. The ranch manager expects hunters to see five to ten or more bears a day, and that number is a direct result of the lack of pressure. Huntin' Fool advisors have hunted this ranch personally, which is worth noting. Hunters have two ways to go at it. Sitting bait works well and gives a hunter time to look over multiple bears before deciding, while spot and stalk suits anyone who would rather cover ground and work for it. Either method can be chosen based on preference. Turkeys can be added for hunters wanting a second species. The hunt is run out of a drive-to cabin camp.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay in a two-story log cabin with a loft that sleeps up to eight, and it can be driven to rather than packed into. The cabin sits atop a ridge with panoramic views of the valley below, which is a pleasant place to end a day whether or not a bear came in. Meals are prepared in camp and run to home-cooked and freezer-style cooking, served daily throughout the stay. Because everything is on site and reachable by vehicle, there is no long commute in the morning and no need to arrange anything in town. It is a comfortable, simple base for a group hunting together.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Tags may be purchased online or in person at a license vendor in Idaho. Bears must be checked in with a fish and game officer after harvest.
