ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter was born and raised in British Columbia and grew up in the outdoor life that country produces. The team's background runs through years of working hunting camps, wrangling stock, and guiding alongside other outfitters across both British Columbia and the Yukon. Mountain goat, coastal moose, black bear, and blacktail deer are the hunts offered, covering both alpine and coastal country. They are mountain people by preference, comfortable pushing their own endurance and spending as much time studying how game behaves as they do hunting it. Outfitting is treated as a way of living rather than a job, and that shows in how hunts are run and in the pride taken in getting hunters into real wilderness.
HUNT DETAILS:
This is ocean-based moose hunting, which is a rare thing even in British Columbia. The hunt operates off a vessel, with jet boats running hunters into remote inlets, tidal flats, and the edges of dense coastal forest. From there the approach depends on the day. Hunters may stalk moose directly from the boat, work the shoreline and timber on foot, or push inland using an ATV cached ahead of time for that purpose. Coastal moose do well in these rainforests, feeding along logging roads and avalanche chutes where the vegetation comes in thick, and those openings are where much of the hunting happens. Trophy class here is typically medium rather than record book, and hunters should book with that expectation, but success rates are high and the setting is unlike any other moose hunt on the continent. Black bear, mountain goat, and blacktail deer can be added for hunters wanting more than one species.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging depends on where the hunting takes place. Some hunts are based on a sixty-eight foot barge that works as a floating base camp, offering a warm, dry place to sleep with ocean views out every window. Others use well-equipped wall tents set closer to the hunting grounds, which trades comfort for proximity and gives hunters a true backcountry camp. Meals are included either way. On the barge the food is hearty and home-cooked, while in the field it runs to a mix of fresh and dehydrated meals. Both setups are supported well enough that hunters can put their attention on hunting rather than logistics.
