ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter was born and raised in British Columbia and grew up in the outdoor life that country produces. The team's background runs through years of working hunting camps, wrangling stock, and guiding alongside other outfitters across both British Columbia and the Yukon. Mountain goat and coastal black bear are the hunts offered, two different pursuits in country that rewards knowing it well. They are mountain people by preference, comfortable pushing their own endurance and spending as much time studying how game behaves as they do hunting it. Outfitting is treated as a way of living rather than a job, and that shows in how hunts are run and in the pride taken in getting hunters into real wilderness.
HUNT DETAILS:
This is about as accessible as a mountain goat hunt gets. Rather than backpacking into the alpine, hunters cover ground on ATVs and UTVs, glassing for billies from the machines and getting into position without the steep climbs and long hikes that define most goat hunting. That opens the hunt up to hunters of any age and nearly any level of fitness, including those who could not manage a traditional pack-in hunt. The country is the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, and the billies here carry long hair and heavy horns. Trophy potential is high, which is what separates this from most easy-access hunts, where accessibility usually costs something in quality. Success has been strong. Hunters glass from the trails and roads the machines can reach, working through a lot of ground in a day and looking over goats rather than grinding out elevation. For anyone who has wanted a billy but written off goat hunting as too physical, this is the version that works.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunters stay aboard a thirty-eight foot vessel anchored in coastal waters, which serves as the base for the whole hunt. It is a compact, comfortable setup with mountain scenery on every side, and it removes the need for any camp to be packed in or set up. Meals lean heavily on fresh seafood, with crab, salmon, and prawns prepared aboard. Evenings are spent on the water rather than in a tent, and hunters sleep to the movement of the boat before heading back out the next morning.
