ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter was born and raised in British Columbia and grew up in the outdoor life that country produces. The team's background runs through years of working hunting camps, wrangling stock, and guiding alongside other outfitters across both British Columbia and the Yukon, which is a broad apprenticeship in some of the hardest hunting country on the continent. They are mountain people by preference, comfortable pushing their own endurance and spending as much time studying how game behaves as they do hunting it. Outfitting is treated as a way of living rather than a job, and that shows in how hunts are run and in the pride taken in getting hunters into real wilderness.
HUNT DETAILS:
These are true backpack spike camp hunts in the heart of goat country. Hunters fly into a remote alpine lake, then shoulder packs and work their way deep into the mountains, setting up a spike camp high enough to hunt from. Days are long and built around glassing, with steep climbs and rocky, unforgiving ground between the tent and wherever the billies are. Endurance matters here, and so does the mental side, since goat hunting tends to come down to how long a hunter can keep going after the country has taken something out of him. The reward is what lives in this concession. It holds the largest mountain goats in British Columbia, with record-class billies working the cliffs, and it carries the highest goat densities in the province. That combination of numbers and quality is rare. This is not a hunt for anyone looking for comfort, but for hunters who want a raw wilderness experience and a shot at an exceptional billy, there are few places that compare.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations are deliberately minimal. Each hunter gets an outfitter-provided single-person spike camp pitched in goat country, built around a lightweight tent and the essential backcountry gear needed to live up there for the duration of the hunt. Meals are high-quality dehydrated food, chosen because it packs light and delivers the calories a hunter burns on this kind of terrain. The tradeoff is straightforward. Hunters give up comfort and get to sleep where the goats live, which is the only way to hunt this country effectively. Anyone booking should be comfortable with backcountry living.
