HUNT DETAILS:
Backcountry elk and mule deer hunts are offered in eastern Idaho as unguided drop camps, fully guided hunts, and combo mule deer/elk opportunities. The unguided drop camps are pre-set in well-scouted backcountry areas and include wall tents, cots, cooking utensils, and pre-cut firewood, giving hunters a ready-made camp while still allowing for a true do-it-yourself hunt. Hunters are packed into camp with their gear, hunt on foot, and are packed out with gear and meat at the end of the trip. Guided hunts are run from wall tent camps and use horseback access to reach hunting areas before daylight, with flexibility to move based on animal activity and conditions. Combo hunt options allow hunters to pursue both mule deer and elk on the same trip, creating a versatile hunting experience with lots of opportunity. Regardless of your trip package you select, you'll be well equipped and ready to go in some of Idaho's best elk country.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Mule deer and elk drop camps are pre-set with wall tents, cots, cooking utensils, and pre-cut firewood, giving hunters a functional camp while keeping the hunt self-guided. Guided elk and mule deer hunts are based from wall tent camps in the woods, with larger camp setups used for meals and day-to-day support. Fully guided hunts have guides who cook hot breakfast and dinner right in camp and sack lunches are provided for the day’s hunt.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Idaho allocates permits through a random draw with no points system. Applications are due throughout the spring with exact deadlines dependent on species. Tags left over after the first drawing will go into a second drawing, which takes place in the summer. Huntin' Fool's License Application team will help you apply at the time of application. In some cases, outfitter allocated tags are provided by the outfitter if purchasing a hunt.
