ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has been guiding hunters since 1982 and is operated by a Wyoming family now in its fifth generation in the state. That longevity shows in the working knowledge the guides carry, from the ground itself to the habits of the game that lives on it. The operation is based in central Wyoming, with access to well-regarded country in the region, including the Red Desert. Pronghorn antelope are the specialty, and the same guides also run hunts for deer, elk, Shiras moose, and mountain lion. Hunters at every level are accommodated, from those taking their first animal to those holding out for a mature buck or bull.
HUNT DETAILS:
Hunters pursue pronghorn across central Wyoming, with much of the effort centered on the Red Desert. The country is wide and open, a mix of sweeping plains and broken foothills that lets hunters cover ground with optics and pick apart bucks from long distances before committing to anything. Glassing does most of the work here, and the final approach comes down to a patient stalk across terrain that offers little in the way of cover. That combination makes the hunt challenging even though the animals are often visible at distance, and it rewards hunters who can shoot well and move deliberately. Buck quality in the area is high, and the opportunity to take an exceptional trophy pronghorn is real rather than incidental. Guides know the diverse habitats of the region and adjust the plan to the conditions and to what each hunter is after. Scouting is part of the process from the outset, so time in the field is spent on located animals, and hunters chasing their first pronghorn are handled with the same attention as those holding out for a specific caliber of buck.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging on this trip is the responsibility of the hunter. The outfitter does not provide a camp, cabins, or rooms, so hunters arrange and pay for their own accommodations for the length of the hunt. Towns in central Wyoming near the hunting country offer lodging, and hunters are encouraged to book well in advance. Hunters should confirm the daily meeting point and start time with the outfitter before reserving anything, so that whatever they choose sits within a reasonable drive of where the hunt begins each day.
