ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has been in operation since 1982 and is run by a Wyoming family now in its fifth generation in the state. That kind of history brings a working knowledge of the country and the animals that live on it, and it shapes how the guides approach each hunt. The operation is based in Wyoming and pursues mule deer, elk, antelope, Shiras moose, and mountain lion. Both fully guided and outfitted packages and unguided do-it-yourself options are available, so hunters can choose the level of support that fits how they want to hunt. Decades of working the same ground give the guides a depth of familiarity that is difficult to match.
HUNT DETAILS:
This is an unguided drop camp elk hunt, set up for hunters who want to run their own show with the logistics handled for them. The outfitter places each group in a location it has hunted and proven over many years, spends the first day setting up camp and walking the group through the area, and then leaves them to hunt six full days on their own. Every camp is reachable by vehicle, and no pack-in or horseback camps are offered, so hunters can drive to and from their base rather than depending on stock. The units hunted are limited-entry and rank among the stronger trophy areas in the state, which is reflected in the caliber of bull available to hunters who draw. Because the hunt is unguided, everything in the field falls to the hunters themselves, including locating elk, choosing where to hunt each day, and recovering the animal. No pack-out service is provided under any circumstance, so every group needs the fitness, gear, and plan to get a bull out of the field without help.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The outfitter provides the entire camp for these hunts. Sleeping arrangements are in a wall tent set up with cots, four-inch foam pads, sleeping bags, and pillows, and a heating stove keeps the tent warm. The kitchen side is fully outfitted with cooking stoves, propane, pots and pans, all cooking and eating utensils, coolers, and water, along with tables, chairs, and lanterns for the evenings. Hunters cook for themselves, so each group brings its own food. Conservation stamps are included as well. Every camp is reachable by vehicle, and the outfitter handles setup before the hunt begins.
