DESCRIPTION:

If you are looking for an amazing moose hunt in Kamchatka, Russia, this is the hunt for you. The Chukotka moose is the largest antlered animal in the world! These moose were brought from the Chukotka mainland in the late 70's, and since then the population numbers compounded each year arriving at sustainable hunt-able numbers. Annually there are approximately 150 harvested by way of US, European, and Asian hunters combined. The average spread is 60"-62", and this is an area that produces upwards of 75"+ bulls, with abnormally large and wide palmation, and don't forget mass! The weight of such antlers can be up to 100 pounds. Combo hunts are also available if a Kamchatka brown bear is something on your list!

Chukotka moose are not a distinct species but rather a regional population of the Eurasian or Siberian moose (Alces alces), which encompasses various populations across Eurasia. Chukotka moose, like their cousins elsewhere, grow impressive antlers thanks to a mix of factors. First off, it's in their genes. Just like some people might inherit certain traits, some moose are born with the potential for bigger antlers. Then there's age. Like a fine wine, moose antlers tend to get better with age. Older bulls have had more time to grow those antlers, so they tend to be bigger. Of course, you can't discount a good diet. Moose need plenty of good food to grow those antlers, especially during the growing season. Luckily, Chukotka offers a buffet of tasty plants for them to munch on. The environment plays a big role too. Chukotka's diverse habitats provide the perfect backdrop for moose to thrive, with plenty of food and space to grow those antlers to their fullest potential.

These hunts take place in the central part of the Kamchatka Peninsula, and to date this outfitter has experienced near 100% success rate. The only reason they can't state that they are 100% is because of those who could not walk or shoot well, or the weather interfered. And there are also those instances when the trophy quality desire was in that 70”+ range and the hunter did not get the opportunity on a trophy of that caliber. A hunter who is reasonably fit and that can walk several miles should have no problem tagging out.

These hunts are conducted over 12-days starting in September and running through December. This hunt is primarily a spot & stalk hunt in the fall, and in the winter months they use snowmobiles. The goal during the winter months is to cover as much ground as you can until you cut a track. From there, you strap on snow shoes and track down the bull. You could do this a couple times a day until you find the trophy you're after.

This region is known for its vast, untouched wilderness, characterized by rugged landscapes, dense forests, and tundra. Hunting in such a remote and pristine environment is amazing in and of itself.
