This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is a family-owned business based in Missoula, Montana, built around quality rather than volume. Each hunting area is carefully managed with an eye toward producing trophy animals year after year rather than harvesting hard in the short term. The guides are among the hardest working and most knowledgeable in the industry, and they bring a friendly, welcoming attitude alongside the expertise, which matters more over a week in camp than most hunters anticipate. Everything about the operation is thought through in advance. It is the attention to small details that separates this outfit, and hunters can count on them going further than they need to in order to make a trip work.

HUNT DETAILS:
Two ways to hunt pronghorn here. Archery hunters sit pop-up ground blinds over water, which is the most reliable way to get a buck inside bow range in open country. It is not physically demanding, but it tests patience, since hunters spend hours in a hot blind. Each hunter sits alone while the guide circles the area checking other hunters and scouting which locations are most active. Guides show photos of bucks using the area so a hunter knows what is around, but which animal to take is entirely the hunter's call. Shots from blinds average twenty to forty yards, and hunters confident out to fifty greatly improve their odds. If heavy rain leaves standing water everywhere and blinds stop working, the fallback is spot and stalk, with shots in the fifty to seventy yard range. Rifle hunters see average bucks with thirteen to fourteen inch horns scoring seventy-two to seventy-five, and a really good one carries fifteen to sixteen inch horns scoring seventy-five to eighty. The outfitter can take a single hunter or a group of up to six.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
These private land hunts are based out of a wall tent camp that is kept very clean. A hunter booking one on one gets a tent to himself, and hunters coming with a partner share a tent two to a shelter, so nobody is packed into a bunkhouse. All bedding is provided, which is one less thing to haul out west. A full shower house is part of the camp as well, and that is not something most wall tent operations bother with. After a day spent in a blind in the heat, being able to clean up properly makes a considerable difference in how the week goes.
