HUNT DETAILS:
Elk hunts are often conducted from horseback, but not always, and hunters are typically based out of a wall tent camp. These hunts take place in Unit 21 and can be physically demanding, as the terrain is steep and rugged. During the archery season, elk are in the rut, providing plenty of exciting opportunities and close encounters. In rifle season, the elevation and open areas offer excellent shot opportunities. The mountains in this area provide great vantage points for glassing burned timber and open cuts, allowing hunters to cover large sections of country and locate elk effectively. Whether you’re hiking into position or covering ground on horseback, you’ll be right in the heart of prime some prime elk country.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
All hunts include meals and lodging, with accommodations varying depending on the hunt. Some hunters will be based out of the homestead, while others may stay in a heated wall tent camp. Breakfasts and dinners are hot meals prepared by the outfitter, and lunches are packed to be eaten in the field during the day’s hunt. Cots are provided for sleeping, and on occasion, when game is located in more remote areas, mountain tents may be used to stay closer to the hunting grounds. Wall tent camps are equipped with heat and a solar shower, while the homestead offers the comforts and amenities of a well-equipped cabin in the Idaho wilderness.
