ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has been guiding in Alaska for several years, working prime country in the Wrangell Mountains and the Copper River region. That part of the state carries an unusual concentration of species, and the hunts offered reflect it, covering brown bear, black bear, mountain goat, moose, and Dall sheep. Few operations anywhere can put that many animals on one list from one base of operations. The guides are experienced and the focus is squarely on getting each hunter into a position to succeed rather than simply putting in the days. Hunters coming to Alaska for the first time and those returning for a specific animal are handled with the same attention.

HUNT DETAILS:
This moose hunt takes place in an exclusive concession inside Wrangell St. Elias National Preserve, and the country is as dramatic as anything in Alaska. Elevations run from around eight hundred feet along the Chitina River up to Mount Blackburn at over sixteen thousand, the fifth tallest peak in America, with glacial valleys ringed by ten thousand foot ridges and ancient ice. The moose do not live at the top of that, but the setting is part of what makes the hunt memorable. Hunting is done off horses, and this outfitter runs one of the better horse outfits in the state, which matters in terrain this size. Alaska-Yukon moose here are world class, and the region has produced a number of all-time Boone and Crockett bulls. Harvest is kept conservative with only six to eight hunts booked each year. Additional species can be added, and the odds of extra opportunity are good.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
This is mountain tent camping, and the setup makes no pretense of being anything more. Camps are set up to be dry and efficient, which in this country matters more than anything decorative, and the essentials are covered without carrying weight that serves no purpose. Meals combine freeze-dried food with a limited amount of fresh food delivered at the start of the hunt, which gives hunters a few real meals early on. The camps are planned around the ground being hunted rather than dropped in place, and the intent is to keep hunters warm, fed, and rested enough to hunt hard each day.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Over-the-counter harvest tickets are also available for most areas. Your license and tags can be purchased online through the ADFG website at least a month in advance.
