ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This is an HFA endorsed outfitter focuses on big game hunts in southern New Mexico and uses local guides who live in or near the units they hunt. The team emphasizes honest communication, ethical hunting, and year-round preparation through scouting, glassing, trail cameras, and shed season work. Their experience is specialized on the southern half of the state, where they guide hunters across multiple quality units for mule deer and other big game species.
HUNT DETAILS:
This trip is a guided New Mexico mule deer hunt focused on the southern half of the state, especially Units 13, 17, 18, and 30. Early archery hunts are in September, late-season rut archery hunts run from January 1 to 15, and rifle hunts are conducted during the first 2 weeks of November. Hunting is spot-and-stalk and involves a lot of glassing. Early archery hunts target velvet bucks in bachelor groups, while January hunts can benefit from rut activity, especially in Unit 30. Rifle hunters can expect opportunities at bucks in the 150 inch to 170 inch range, with shot distances from 200 to 500 yards.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Mule deer hunters typically stay in a custom lodge in Magdalena, New Mexico for hunts in Units 13, 17, and 18. Built in 2019, the lodge has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and bunkhouse-style sleeping arrangements on 140 acres. For hunts in other units, or when the drive from Magdalena would be too long, accommodations may instead be a tent camp or Airbnb. Meals are included with lodge-based hunts.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Mule Deer tags are obtained by the lottery/draw system or by the purchase of a landowner tag. Huntin' Fools License Application team can also help with your applications if needed.
