Happy New Year, Huntin’ Fool family. This time of year I always look back at the memories made in the field with a mixture of happiness and sadness. I can’t remember a hunt that didn’t give us both. I have always been emotional when I watch the sun set on the last day of every hunt - probably because I know that our time in the field is precious and finite. I hope each of you soaked in the smells, sights, and sounds that make wild places feel alive. From the pungent smell of sagebrush and pines to the decomposing leaves of a hardwood forest, every moment in the woods is special.
Here at Huntin’ Fool, we’re constantly reminded that it’s a privilege to play even a small part in your seasons. I am particularly reminded of it this month as we are moving into a new location. It’s not lost on me, or my team, that this is only made possible by your trust in us. When I interviewed at Huntin’ Fool more than 10 years ago, I was impressed that the conditions of the current facility weren’t mentioned one time. Ceiling tiles were missing. Lights were intermittent. Buckets were strategically located to capture water that leaked through the roof. Heat and AC functions depended on which room you stood in. None of it came up.
What did come up was member outcomes. That culture, and my previous history as a long-term member of Huntin’ Fool, sold me. I fell in with the team right away because the mission was simple. It doesn’t really matter where you accomplish your goals, it only matters that you accomplish the goals. So, for the last decade, we’ve squeezed everything we could out of that space as we added new services and support for our members.
Having said that, we outgrew our current location and have been looking for a better place to service our members for a couple of years now. It seems surreal to share with you that we’re moving into a new facility this month. I can assure you that the upgrade in the building won’t change anything about the culture of this team. We’re here to help you make the most of every dollar and hour you spend in the field each year.
I also want to extend an invitation to you to come visit us. Each year we are blessed by members who show up at the office, shake hands, and make hunting plans in person. I am looking forward to doing that in our new location!
