The Niak expands on our concept of very lightweight yet remarkably strong three-season tents that we introduced with our one-person Enan. Ideal for two people who want to go as light as possible, the Niak is also a veritable lightweight palace for one person. Its dimensions accommodate two people, but its single door and lengthwise vestibule make it somewhat less comfortable than our other two person models, so the Niak is especially good for a parent and a child or for one person and a dog. It is also the perfect three-season solo tent when you want to be as comfortable as possible at a low weight.

FEATURES:

  • Minimum Weight: 3 lbs. 5 oz.
  • Packed Weight: 3 lbs. 12 oz.
  • Outer Tent Fabric: Kerlon 1000
  • Colors: Greed, Red, or Sand
“Simpler is better. That could be the tagline for this lightweight, freestanding backpack tent. This tent is ultra-lightweight at under 4 lbs. and has the strength and rigidness of a four- season tent in a three-season tent. The two-pole cross section design allows for fast and simple setup that typically takes less than five minutes to set up and take down.

Guy out lines are attached to every corner to provide extra strength, even in strong, gusty winds, and with the extra guy out line in the back of the tent secured, there is not much room for loose material to flap in the wind and cause damage to the tent. All in all, there are 10 anchor points that secure the tent firmly to the ground.

The biggest pro to this tent is the simple design. This allows for fast and easy setup, added strength, ease of use in tight spots on the mountain, and it’s lightweight. The only con for me is that the vestibule could be a little bit larger to accommodate two people’s gear, but if you plan on using the Niak for solo hunts, there is adequate room for one person’s gear. This is one of the best all-around backpacking tents on the market today for hunters looking to keep their weight down and still have a roomy tent that you won’t have to break out the instruction manual for every time you set it up.” – Garth Jenson, Hunt Advisor
