In recent years, hunters have embraced a new trend that combines the thrill of the hunt with the comforts of modern luxury. We are seeing more and more options each year that will get you further back into the bush but still offer the comforts of a nice camper trailer. Now don’t get me wrong, I like a good backpack hunt and sleeping on the ground in a small tent, but why when I don’t have to? I have noticed as I get older that a good night’s rest allows me to perform better the next day. If you give me the option of a blow-up sleeping pad or a nice, comfy foam mattress, I don’t think it will take me long to decide. Imagine waking up to the crisp morning air, stepping out of your plush accommodations, and embarking on a thrilling hunting expedition in the mountains. Whether it’s pursuing big game in the mountains or tracking a big mule deer buck across the desert, glamping while hunting offers an unparalleled adventure for the hunter who has the right situation and hunt. Below are a few benefits for glamping while on your next hunt.

COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE

One of the primary benefits of glamping while hunting is the comfort and convenience it offers. Instead of enduring the hardships of roughing it when you don’t have to, glampers can retreat to cozy beds, hot showers, and great meals after a day of hunting. This ensures that hunters remain well-rested, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle each day’s challenges with enthusiasm.

ACCESS TO REMOTE LOCATIONS

Most guys in units with good road access pull a nice, big bumper pull trailer. This option allows you to sleep comfy, but it doesn’t allow you to go as far back into the woods as roads tend to get rougher the further you go. With some of the options today like Jumping Jack tents, you can take your big, comfy bed anywhere your average truck can go. This allows you to sleep longer, eat better, and not have to worry as much about that other hunter who might be hunting the same buck or bull as you. You can get more rest and still beat him or her to the glassing spot the next morning.

TRUE OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE

While glamping offers luxury and comfort, it does not take away from the experience of being in the great outdoors. In fact, it allows hunters to connect more intimately with nature while enjoying the modern amenities that enhance their overall enjoyment. Whether it’s listening to a bull bugle in the mountains or birds singing in the trees, glampers can savor the beauty and serenity of their natural surroundings.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY ADVENTURE

Glamping while hunting is not just for seasoned hunters, it’s also a family- friendly adventure that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Everyone I know who hunts has taken a kid hunting or wants to. Glamping allows you to take the kids, and if they don’t want to go out the next morning, they can stay at camp and be comfortable. This is huge because we all know when a kid is ready to go, they are done and you’re probably going to have to cut your hunt shorter than normal. By involving the whole family in the hunting experience, glamping fosters a deeper appreciation for nature and wildlife conservation for everyone involved. I know I love hunting with my wife, and she loves to rough it when need be. However, I believe she will be the first to say that she loves the hunts where we can take the Jumping Jack trailer along with a memory foam mattress, our Joolca hot shower, and a small heater to warm the tent up on a cool fall morning.

These are just a few benefits that stand out to me. I’m sure when you start looking into ways to make your hunts more comfortable and enjoyable you will have a long list as well. I don’t think glamping is a new way of hunting, I just think it’s a new word we use to describe comfort. As far back as I can remember, my family or friends going on a big hunting trip were always trying to make it more comfortable and convenient. I have seen guys building beds and showers in old cargo trailers to try and take them further back into the woods but not tear up their nice lakeside camper. I have seen others hauling nice mattresses in the bed of their truck to not have to pull a trailer because where they want to go, the roads won’t allow the access of a trailer. However, they still want the comfort, so they haul a mattress and throw a tarp up. This is all still OK, but in today’s world, a lot of this is already built and ready to go anywhere a two-track road exists.

There are a lot of great options out there to look into, but here is what I know works. I have a 6x8 Jumping Jack trailer single axle. I can pull my four-wheeler or side-by-side right up on top of it and go anywhere I want. It has two beds in it and a small table with built-in bench seats. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to have it set up and ready. The trailer sits up off the ground higher than most to clear rocks and washout that you will run into going down less traveled two-track roads. The ground clearance is a little over 15". With this, I am able to haul a grill if I am going to be staying a bit and want to cook a good, hot meal. When I take my Jumping Jack, I always have the four-wheeler strapped on it as well. I usually take a 30 gallon jug of water and a Joolca shower system. This is an easy setup with a very small hot water heater and shower tent. If I camp close to a good creek or body of water, I do not have to haul water. The Joolca will pump it right out and stay hot as long as I need. I’m not one who showers every day on hunts, but it sure is nice every few days. I sleep better after a hot shower.

I am not telling anyone to go spend a ton more money on your next hunting trip, but I am saying think about your upcoming hunts for the year and if you can make it more comfortable, then try to. You will notice it is a big advantage to getting a good night’s rest, eating well, and being comfortable. I realize this will not work on every hunt. Obviously, if you have a tag in the wilderness, you have to pack everything in on your back. I love a good, rough hunt to test myself, but I also love a good, comfortable camp to come back to after a hard day’s hike.
