Story by Sam Thomas
Hunters: Mark and Sam Thomas
State: Alaska
Species: Moose - AK Yukon

I took my brother, Mark, on his first ever self-guided hunt in Alaska this fall. Mark had never been on a self-guided hunt before. We called in his moose to 75 yards the first morning of the hunt. After Mark shot his moose, he turned to me and said, “This moose hunting is easy!”

We spent the rest of the day cleaning and packing the moose back to camp. Mark couldn't even stay awake that night as I think that was the most physical activity he had seen in a long time. I believe he is hooked now.

I was able to call my moose in to 40 yards on the fifth day of the hunt. We went two for two. My moose was a 58" bull with very unique antlers. He had four front tines and an inverted palm.
