Utah is known for its diverse landscapes, including cedar forests, sage flats, and snow-covered mountains, which provide a unique and challenging environment for mountain lion hunting. These habitats offer a range of opportunities for hunters, including the chance to pursue mountain lions in different terrains and elevations. Hunting mountain lions in Utah can be particularly challenging, depending on where you're hunting them. There are areas that provides dense cover and an ideal habitat for the cats, and they take full advantage of it. Nothing that the dogs can't handle though. On the other hand, hunting on sage flats and dry ground offers more open country, which there is a good mix of it all. Depending on the time of year, the snow-covered mountains provide a unique hunting experience as well.

The hunting season for bobcats in Utah usually takes place from late November to late March. Hunters must possess a valid hunting license and a bobcat permit, which are available through the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
