DESCRIPTION:

There are parts of Alaska that arguably have too many bears and this is one of them. Situated in the Northern portion of the brown bear range, these hunts offer high opportunity and 8+ ft bears. This hunt should appeal to the hunter that seeks a high odds opportunity while enjoying vast country.

Hunters arrive in Port Alsworth where they will be picked up in Super Cubs on tundra tires and flown to a remote spike camp. The guide will be there waiting for them. Wake up 7am, have a hearty breakfast, pack a lunch, and head out into the mountains for the day. The guide will take you from one vantage point to the next looking for mature bears. The temperature is generally 40-60 degrees F. Be prepared for a variety of weather possibility’s, rain, wind, sunshine, heat. This time of year the bears are eating salmon down on the rivers and roaming the mountains looking for blueberries, ground squirrels and vegetation. Hunters will typically see 3-6 bears daily where the hunter will have the opportunity to glass and see the hair quality and size of the animal until he finds a the bear he wants.

This hunt is offered August 20-September 20. Again, this is prime berry season and big bears on berries makes for one of the best stalking opportunities a hunter could ask for.
