DESCRIPTION:

This outfitter has lived in Southeastern New Mexico for more than 25 years, offering guided hunts for Big Game, Small Game and Varmints, and Wingshooting. They offer personalized hunts to a limited number of hunters each year. Their guides are friendly, competent and experienced with knowledge of the areas and species hunted.

This outfitter offers wild quail hunting over pointing dogs the way it was meant to be, and they’re wild and free range quail in the vast deserts and mountains in Southeastern New Mexico. The primary species is Scaled quail, but they do have areas with limited Northern Bobwhite’s, and places they can also go hunt for Mearns if desired. They hunt for Scaled/Blue quail, along with Gambel’s and Mearns quail in New Mexico. For this upland game hunt, this outfitter offers guided day hunts with their dogs or you can bring your own dog(s). They have an excellent population of wild quail most years, and the hunts run from mid November through mid February. The terrain is relatively easy but hunters should be prepared for brush and cactus. Temperatures average from the mid 40's to mid 60's for highs. Mornings are usually at or just below freezing.

The outfitter provides the use of their seasoned and well trained wild quail hunting dogs, and their dogs only hunt wild quail. The dogs are very good at finding and handling wild quail as well as excellent retrievers. From the outfitter: “They constantly amaze me at their abilities to locate not only coveys and point singles, but tracking down cripples as well.”

They are permitted through the BLM, Forest Service and state of New Mexico to guide on millions of acres. They are continually scouting throughout the Spring and Summer, and keeping up with rainfall amounts and timing in the areas they hunt. In addition to that, they also have boots on the ground scouting during their big game seasons, and they make note of where to return to hunt those areas. Simply put, they will know the best areas to take you for a successful and enjoyable hunt.

Hunts can be arranged as guided only, or they can provide meals and lodging if desired. Hunts are based on a 2-person/2-day minimum (some exceptions may apply). Additional days can be added, and they can accommodate larger groups determined by dates and guide availability. Hunts are guided only and include in-field lunch and soft drinks, as well as bird cleaning and packaging. Hunters will be picked up by 7:00 AM and hunt until approximately 3:30 PM. After 2 lost/crippled birds, any additional birds hit and not recovered will count against your daily bag limit.

*Hunts can be combined with coyote hunts and doves hunts during combined seasons.

*With all hunts they may be able to add meals and lodging or they can always assist you in arranging it (where applicable).
