DESCRIPTION:

This elk hunting opportunity takes place South of the border in Old Mexico! The family ranch is over 65,000 acres in size! It’s a compilation of some of the most prime habitat and surroundings for elk that you've most likely ever seen. This area is home to a rich variety of wildlife species, including coues deer, elk, mountain lions, wild boar, wild turkey, and various small game. This diversity provides hunters with a range of incredible hunting opportunities. It's loaded with mountainous landscapes that offer breathtaking views, with rugged peaks, deep valleys, forests, and rivers & streams. There are limited openings each year for this opportunity, and booking in advance is highly advised.

The elk is this area are not native, however, they have been re-introduced to certain areas for hunting and conservation. Elk were abundant in northwestern Mexico, and specifically in this area, until they were hunted indiscriminately and exterminated over 100 years ago. This family operation has had their ranch since the 1800's, and they were an integral part in the re-introduction of this elk herd. This ranch is an ideal habitat for elk, so the owners bought the best specimens they could find in the Southwestern U.S., and began to reintroduce them in 2008. Since then, they’ve done wonderfully, and the herd has grown exponentially. Today there are conservatively over 300 elk that call these Mexican pine covered mountains their home.

Originally, they began hunting the elk with rifles. Over time, they have found the best way to keep all of the elk in the area, and minimally disrupt the herds, is to hunt them with Archery equipment only. The terrain is very conducive to archery hunting, and the topography, in combination with the various types of vegetation makes for a very fun and challenging and achievable hunt all around. Hunters have the opportunity to pursue the elk in the prime of the rut. With more meadows, valleys, canyons, water and wallows than can be imagined, sneaking in on a bull in his wallow or calling a bull into archery range is a daily occurrence. This is truly an archery elk hunters paradise.

In the valleys where the actual ranch is located, you will find a beautiful Hacienda that is nothing less than 5-star, surrounded by meadows, streams and rivers, a lake, and the Ponderosa Pine covered mountainsides. The photo gallery speaks for itself. In the higher elevations, particularly in the upper slopes and mountain peaks, coniferous forests dominate. These forests are primarily composed of species such as pine, fir, and spruce. They are characterized by dense stands of evergreen trees, providing habitat for a variety of wildlife species and offering scenic views with their towering trees.

Guests will enjoy the comfortable first-class facilities, eat deliciously and receive the utmost attention from their kind staff. Each trip includes the following: Luxury rooms, Delicious meals, Open bar with local and imported drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), Snacks, Daily cleaning of rooms, Wireless internet, Laundry, Satellite TV, Saddled horses, Transportation within the ranch, Round-trip ground transportation from the city of Durango (in groups of 4 or more persons), One elk, 5 nights stay in first-class accommodations, All the needed permits, An experienced guide for each hunter, Transportation to-and-from the city; also the transportation within the ranch, Preparation of your trophy, in order for you to take home, The use of their horses so that the hunt can be done on horseback when, where, and/or if needed, Souvenir Hat
