DESCRIPTION:

A crisp, clear November morning in the hardwoods of Southern Iowa or Northern Missouri is what whitetail hunting in the Midwest is all about. Big bucks on their feet cruising ridgetops, leaving cover to search for receptive does, and most importantly, coming through your set up in daylight. Welcome to prime-time!

This small, family run outfit owns 2,000 acres of mixed agriculture and timber in Iowa Zone 4. Their ground is managed for mature bucks with very little pressure to stifle buck activity. If you are a bowhunter lucky enough to catch a cold front during the rut you may experience some best Iowa has to offer.

Many of the bow hunters that experience the Iowa hunt are disappointed that they cannot return every year to hunt mature deer. This outfit has remedied that situation by leasing several hundred acres just 30 minutes drive in Missouri to fill in the gaps with over the counter hunting. Though not quite the same as southern Iowa, these properties are also producing big deer without having to build points in the draw.

Once the rut winds down, rut-weary bucks shift to food. Both the Iowa and Missouri properties have standing crops strategically placed with blinds positioned to overlook the key food sources. Gun hunters can expect to see mature bucks daylighting in search of food as temperatures drop with the onset of winter. Shotgun and muzzleloaders hunters do well on these properties.

Hunters will stay in a fully furnished basement at the farmhouse and enjoy hot meals in a comfortable setting. Some of the hunters will walk straight from the farmhouse to their stand while others maybe making the short drive to Missouri. One thing is for certain. there will be anticipation as hunters return in the evening and tell their story over dinner.
