HUNT DETAILS:
These Idaho elk hunts offer a true western backcountry experience in remote alpine country where mature bulls thrive in steep, rugged terrain. Available as fully guided or DIY drop camp adventures, hunters can choose the experience that best fits their goals and style. Guided hunts are five days in length and available with either 1:1 or 2:1 guide service, while drop camps provide hunters with horseback transportation into the backcountry, local scouting knowledge, and pack-in/pack-out services for trips ranging from 5 to 14 days. Hunts are available during both archery and rifle seasons and require a good level of physical fitness, with long days spent glassing high-country basins, hiking rugged ridges, and pursuing mature bulls. Archery hunts take place during the rut, when calling is used to bring bulls in close, while rifle hunts rely on glassing and spot-and-stalk approaches to close the distance on mature bulls. Whether hunting with a guide or venturing out from a remote camp on your own, these hunts provide an authentic Idaho wilderness experience with excellent trophy potential and the opportunity to pursue elk in some of the state's most scenic mountain country.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations for these hunts are based out of traditional backcountry wall tent camps located deep in Idaho's high country and accessed by horseback. Camps are designed to provide a comfortable and authentic wilderness experience, with sturdy wall tents, comfortable cots, and everything needed to relax after long days in the mountains. Guided hunts include hearty, chef-prepared meals served each day, allowing hunters to focus entirely on the hunt while enjoying excellent food and western hospitality. For DIY drop camp hunts, hunters are packed into a remote campsite with their gear and provided transportation, local area knowledge, and pack-in/pack-out services, giving them the freedom to enjoy a true self-guided backcountry adventure while the outfitter handles the logistics.
