DESCRIPTION:

Moose hunts are 10-day fly-in trips in the Western Alaska Range. Dates are between September 1st through September 20th. Hunters take a charter flight out of Anchorage to access this magnificent wilderness then a Super Cub will get you into camp. Guide and hunter will travel on foot each day to glass, call, and cover country to locate bulls. The outfit will occasionally set up moose float hunts if they find a bull in an area can only be reached with the raft.

Hunt cost includes food, tent, qualified/experienced guide and super cub flight to and from the hunting area. The roundtrip charter flight (paid separately) gets you in and out of the field with your moose. You can hunt grizzly and black bear on a trophy fee as long as you have the tags in your pocket. The outfit maintains an average of 60” plus on trophy bulls. The genetics on these bull moose are excellent and they come in all shapes and sizes with great character. All of the guides are dedicated, avid hunters who work hard and look forward to your success. Pilots have been chosen very carefully making sure they are safe and have thousands of hours of bush flying experience in Alaska and know the area well.

Camp is generally a larger 4-6 man tent with a small heater to take the chill off or dry things out. Food is mostly freeze dried. Breakfast tends to be eggs and oatmeal or freeze dried breakfast food. Lunch is a snack bag, and cheese and summer sausage. Evening meal is usually freeze dried. Plan on gorging on fresh cooked moose meat and cheese and tortillas once you harvest your bull.

Moose hunting can be physically challenging. Plan on hiking to a vantage point each day to glass or call for moose or bears. The average altitude is approximately 2,000-3,000' above sea level. The ground can be uneven with an occasional game trail. Hunters will usually only carry a day pack with food for the day, water, raingear, rifle, Etc.

No tag is required to harvest wolves and there is a decent chance of getting a crack at one.
