Alaska-Yukon Moose have gained in popularity in recent years and rightfully so. The shear body mass and antlers on a mature rutting bull are worthy of their notoriety. This outfitter offers a high success hunt for big rutting bulls with an average above 60" and his crew of guides no how to find them. Whether you are interested in Moose only or a Moose Bear Combo, this is solid choice.

Hunters arrive in Port Alsworth where they will be picked up in Super Cubs on tundra tires and flown to a remote spike camp or the main Lodge. The guide will be there waiting for them. This is a great time to sight in your rifle. Wake up 6am, have a hearty breakfast, pack a lunch, and head out either on foot or via boat, into a moose rut area where the guide can call moose and spot for bears for the day. The temperature is generally 40-60 degrees F. Be prepared for a variety of weather possibility’s, rain, wind, sunshine, heat. Once a moose is spotted the guide will judge him for horn size and quality. If it is a shooter the guide will instruct the client to take the animal. After the animal is down, the guide will call for packers to help take care of the animal. This then becomes a great option to hunt the bear off the fresh moose kill. The client is welcome to return to the main lodge and can hang out and enjoy a few days there of fishing if desired.

The hunt can also begin with bear and then move into a moose hunt if they’d prefer to come early rather than later. Those hunters that choose to hunt earlier should be prepared for some hiking and terrain as both the bears and bulls are hunted a bit higher on the mountain. With that, hunters of average fitness can enjoy the hunt.
