DESCRIPTION:

This is a family run operation based out of North Central Idaho. The area was originally homesteaded in the late 1800's, and used to be a part of the Nez Perce Indian hunting grounds. They own 500 private acres that is surrounded by hundreds of thousands of acres full of game that they offer hunts for. They offer Elk, Whitetail, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, and Wolf hunting opportunities, all based out of their ranch/homestead. The family lives on the backcountry homestead where the hunts take place and are more than familiar with the area, game, and the most advantageous options for clients to experience success.

This area is considered a great place for hunting due to several factors. It's known for its diverse and abundant wildlife population, and the elk population, in particular, is plentiful, making it an appealing location for elk hunters. The area offers a remote and pristine environment with rugged terrain, dense forests, and meandering rivers. This untouched wilderness provides a unique hunting experience for those seeking a great adventure.

Because this area is a forest service restricted area, it typically receives fewer hunters compared to other hunting areas. This reduced hunting pressure can lead to less disturbance to wildlife and potentially increase the chances of a successful hunt. There are no motorized vehicles allowed in the area, limiting access to designated trails to foot or horse only. This restriction helps maintain the wilderness's wild and natural character.

On top of the hunting opportunities, the area offers breathtaking scenic beauty, and many hunters appreciate the wilderness setting, even if they don't end up harvesting game. The base camp is their 500 acres and there’s a cabin on it with 4 nice wall tents that are setup. The cabin is used as a common area for hanging out and breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a nice setup with a full kitchen, power and running water. They have a nice wood stove that heats it well. They have a full time camp cook preparing all your meals and packing you a lunch each day. One of the owners is in charge of everything going on at camp, and he is also a guide. In addition, they also have additional guides, and all of them have hunted and guided in the area and know the terrain and game.

The outfitter will meet you at the trailhead in the late morning the day your hunt begins. It’s a 4.5 mile mule/horse ride to get to base camp. The elevation of camp sits at approximately 4000 feet, and the hunting can take to elevations lower and higher depending on the time of year and/or species being hunted. With 20+ horses and mules, the outfitter can get clients to just about anywhere needed to hunt. Upon arriving at base camp, clients have lunch and then go out hunting for the evening hunt.

This is a great area for hunting elk ranging between 250 and 300 inches, with bigger bulls seen and harvested each year. Expect a lot of calling with action packed days calling in multiple bulls. Opportunities will be good and the chance of success on good bulls, and even big bulls could happen at any time. This is a great hunt, with great people, in an amazing place!
