DESCRIPTION:

This outfitter is a legend when it comes to hunting buffalo in Australia. He has personally hunted and provided outfitted hunting opportunities for world hunters in Arnhemland since the late 90's. Their main focus is the pursuit of dangerous game, hunting with big rifles on classic old style safaris, and exploring Australia's wide open adventures. The hunting area is characterized by its stunning natural beauty, with vast wetlands, pristine rivers, and expansive savannah's. Hunters can enjoy breathtaking views and observe a diverse array of wildlife while pursuing water buffalo in their natural habitat. Their professional team all have excellent experience, and they are properly licensed and thrive on wilderness hunting, seeing the biggest wild buffalo, and delivering on tough, hot, and demanding hunts. They are undoubtedly one of very biggest names in the business when it comes to hunting water buffalo.

In the hunting district their focus is very much on game management, which over the years has helped secure hunters here some very large trophies indeed. Our outfitter Graham Williams works in close partnership with the local population here in Arnhemland, namely the Aborigines. The animal populations are assessed every year, allowing them to decide how many buffalo can be shot in the coming year. This helps to ensure the size and the quality of the buffalo population remain at an optimal level.

These hunts take place on aboriginal reserves in the Northwest Territories. Arnhemland, located in the Northern Territory of Australia, is home to one of the largest populations of wild water buffalo in Australia. These large and powerful animals thrive in the region's wetlands, floodplains, and savannah's, providing ample hunting opportunities for adventurous hunters. You will see small and larger herds of Water Buffalo, lone old Bulls and small groups of Buffalo bulls, some Wild Ox (Scrub Bull), and the occasional Wild Boar. With luck you may also see Dingo, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Emus, Fresh Water Crocodiles. Unlike some other hunting destinations that may be more accessible or developed, this particular area offers hunters the chance to experience true wilderness and adventure in a remote and untamed environment. It is not easy hunting, and the country is vast and rugged, and they have to find the Buffalo. They don't have a network of tracks, no dams, troughs, etc.... this area is wilderness! You will explore and navigate by way of 4x4 vehicles, then hunt on foot with your classic double or bolt rifle at hand.

Asiatic water buffalo bulls weigh between 700kg and 900kg, and even up to 1000kg (2200lb). This is an exciting, close up buffalo hunt for 1 and maybe 2 buffalo. You will explore plenty of vast wilderness, see huge water buffalo, and experience old style safaris for a true classic adventure! The owner and his team are top notch experienced professionals, who are familiar with the region's wildlife, terrain, and hunting regulations. Like most wild animals, Australian Asiatic Water Buffalo can appear calm or even run off, yet if wounded or cornered, they can be just as mean and nasty as Cape Buffalo. Yes a charge is very rare, it is often unexpected, and adrenaline can make a wounded bull seam unstoppable. Hunters will always be backed up by a large caliber rifle in hand, using premium ammunition, and someone skilled at stopping a close up charge in an instant! These buffalo are known for their impressive size, robust build, and formidable horns. Trophy-quality bulls with large and heavy horns can be found in the area, offering hunters the chance to harvest a prized trophy. It's a challenging pursuit that requires skill, patience, and determination. The rugged and remote terrain, dense vegetation, and unpredictable weather conditions add to the challenge of the hunt, making it a rewarding and unforgettable experience for hunters. This area is also renowned for its rich Aboriginal culture and heritage. This experience from start to finish is an opportunity to learn about Indigenous traditions, customs, and ways of life. Immersing oneself in this local culture adds depth and meaning to the hunting experience.

The outfitter operates out of tented camps as you can see in the photo gallery. Their moveable camps are located near excellent numbers of buffalo. Their team's passion is the older and more traditional ways, so real hunters will enjoy their classic safari camps, with green canvas tents, wood tables, green canvas, wood safari director chairs, lanterns, and a step back in time. You're able to relax as the snacks and cold drinks appear. The assistants will already have the shower water heating up so that you can take a nice shower before a hearty meal. A good meal of specially charred steak and crisp vegetables, complimented with a South Australian cabernet sauvignon or merlot wine may also find its way into camp, all the while hunters discuss the excitement of the day, new hunt plans, fine rifles, calibers, and hunting all over the world. And to top the night off, the night sky is amazing, as the Southern Cross appears amongst hundreds of bright stars.

NOTE: The hunting camps are also moved on a year to year basis, to make sure that the hunting and its effect on the animal life is kept as even as possible.

BANTENG ADD-ON:
The Banteng safaris are in Northwest Arnhem Land, the NLC licensed WS concession is a productive walk and stalk type of hunt, based out of a classic tented camp. It is a much smaller concession, but has good numbers of wild Banteng. These are a beautiful species, and also a very dangerous game. As mentioned, these safari areas are licensed land use areas, and access permits are required.
