HUNT DETAILS:
These mountain goat hunts take place in the steep mountains of Montana, offering hunters a physically demanding but rewarding wilderness experience in Units 313, 314, and 323. Hunts are conducted on horseback and on foot through remote alpine terrain known for quality goat habitat and breathtaking scenery. Depending on where goats are located during preseason scouting and current conditions, guides will determine which unit offers the best opportunity for the hunt. Unit 323 hunts are lodge-based, Unit 314 hunts are based from their cabin, and Unit 313 hunts operate from a traditional wall tent camp. Hunters should be prepared for challenging terrain, long days glassing high country basins and cliffs, and physically demanding stalks. With experienced guides, strong knowledge of the area, and access to the remote wilderness, these hunts produce large goats each year with high success rates for clients.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Depending on the number of hunters and the style of hunt, accommodations may include a fully equipped lodge, their comfortable cabin, or a quality wall tent camp. Each option is set up to provide hunters with a warm, relaxing place to unwind after long days in the field. Breakfasts are typically kept light to help hunters get an early start each morning, while packed lunches are carried and eaten in the field throughout the day. Evenings end with hearty home-cooked dinners and a comfortable bed or cot to rest up for the next day’s hunt. Whether staying at the lodge, cabin, or wall tent camp, hunters can expect a comfortable stay, great meals, and great hospitality throughout the trip.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Montana allocates elk and deer permits through a combination of random drawings and a preference point system. Non-residents must apply for one of the big game, elk, or deer combination licenses in the general draw in order to apply for special, limited entry deer and/or elk permits. Preference points are issued for the general combination drawings and bonus points will be issued for the special deer and elk drawings. The maximum number of bonus points someone can have going into the draw is 23. Huntin’ Fool’s License Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
In Montana, bonus points are used in a random lottery drawing for Moose, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, and Antelope permits. Bonus points accumulate when you apply for a hunt and are unsuccessful. In Montana, bison permits are distributed through a random draw process and do not use a bonus points system. Huntin’ Fool’s Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
