THE HUNT:
This legendary trophy animal, the Marco Polo Argali, is one of the largest wild sheep species in the world. It is an animal sought after by hunters worldwide. Harvesting a Marco Polo Argali with its majestic, spiraling horns is considered a crowning achievement for many hunters, making it a highly coveted hunting opportunity, and this Kyrgyzstan opportunity is one of the best there is.

Kyrgyzstan is renowned for producing Marco Polo Argali with exceptional horn size and quality. The country's conservation efforts and strict hunting regulations have led to healthy populations of Marco Polo Argali, ensuring ample opportunities for hunters to harvest trophy-worthy specimens. Hunting Marco Polo Argali in Kyrgyzstan presents a formidable challenge, both physically and mentally. The high altitudes, steep slopes, and unpredictable weather conditions require hunters to be in peak physical condition and to possess strong mountaineering skills, adding an element of adventure and excitement to the hunt. Much of the hunting areas remains pristine and untouched by human development, offering hunters a truly wild and remote hunting experience. The vast expanses of rugged mountains and untouched landscapes provide a sense of adventure and authenticity that is hard to find elsewhere. Its rich nomadic heritage adds a unique cultural dimension as well. Hunters have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions and customs of the local Kyrgyz people, gaining insight into their way of life and forging meaningful connections with the local community.

This outfitter has an experienced team of guides who specialize in Ibex and argali hunting. These professionals have intimate knowledge of the terrain, Ibex and argali behavior, and hunting tactics, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and successful hunting experience for their clients. This makes for an exhilarating adventure and a formidable challenge for hunters. The steep slopes, rocky cliffs, and high altitudes present physical and mental challenges that test the skills and endurance of even the most experienced hunters.

Hunters going to Kyrgyzstan want to make sure they are in good physical condition for hiking steep hills and mountains at altitudes between 10,000-13,000 feet. From base camp, you will have a 4-5 hour horseback ride to the area where you will set up a spike camp to hunt from. A water filter, camp stove and freeze dried meals are a must in spike camp. Hunters are responsible for bringing their own water filter, personal camp stove (jetboil or similar), and meals (peak refuel/mountain house) for spike camp.

The rutting season for Marco Polo Argali, also known as the mating season, typically occurs in late fall or early winter, typically from late October to early December. During this time, male Marco Polo Argali, known as rams, engage in aggressive behaviors such as fighting and vocalizing to establish dominance and compete for mating rights with females, known as ewes.

Shots are typically taken between 300-600 yards. Hunters are encouraged to bring a long-range rifle that is capable of making accurate shots to at least 600 yards. Spotting scopes, binoculars and range finders are also highly recommended pieces of equipment to bring on your hunt.

The opportunity to harvest a Mid-Asian Ibex is also available on this hunt. You can book the hunt as a combo, or single species hunt. See pricing for details.

US citizens do not require a visa for travel to Kyrgyzstan under 60 days duration. The outfitter has their staff that will meet you at the airport in Bishkek.
