This outfitter was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. This family-run operation is comprised of a husband/wife duo that both love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, guiding and outfitting, and is what their life is centered around. The outfitter's upbringing was rich in the outdoor lifestyle and he had an early passion for hunting, and everything outdoors. This family has experienced early on in their career with wrangling, hunting camps, working with outfitters throughout the Yukon and BC. The husband is a pilot, which adds a huge benefit to the overall operation. Together and they love the outfitting lifestyle and the people. They find time spent in the mountains, challenging their strength and endurance, learning the habits of wild animals and sharing the thrill of the hunt with their clients, to be more gratifying than anything.
Fall season goat hunts run from August to October. Clients are flown in and dropped off at pristine high alpine lakes providing entry into prime goat country. This is a backpack hunt where you become an occupant of glorious goat habitat for the duration of your hunt. This British Columbia winter mountain goat hunt is as good as they get! BC is the heartland of mountain goats, and contains more than half of the world’s population, with the most densely populated area being the Northwest corner of the province. Mountain goats are generally confined to prominent mountain ranges where their unique body build allows them to thrive despite the severe terrain and harsh conditions. This area is part of the Coast Mountains running the length of western British Columbia. The Coast Mountains are a lower elevation than the Rocky Mountains, and so the forest growth is much higher. The geology of the ranges and British Columbia is different from the rest of Canada. Significant portions of the land were created as magma rose from the earth's crust but cooled as pockets in the sedimentary layers forming granite and dioritic rocks... LOTS of rocks! The terrain is steep, slippery, and extremely challenging for anything but a mountain goat. It is a goat haven and is why this area is world renowned.
Before the hunt, the guide will take his hunters to the local gun range to ensure the gun is preforming adequately after travel. Unless a Packer has been arranged, expect to carry your own gear, plus your share of meat off the mountain.
