This hunt takes place out of Dorset, UK which is a county in southwest England. It’s known for the Jurassic Coast, a long stretch on the English Channel where the cliffs contain many fossils, and rock formations show millions of years of geological history. Two prominent natural landmarks are Durdle Door, an ancient stone arch, and the layered cliffs at nearby Lulworth Cove. The towns of Poole, Weymouth and Swanage are popular for their sandy beaches.

This hunt is for Sika Deer as the primary species. Sika deer hunting in the UK can be a great opportunity for several reasons. They are originally from East Asia and were introduced to the UK in the 19th century. Hunting them provides an opportunity to pursue an exotic species not native to the UK. Sika deer populations have been expanding in the UK, particularly in Scotland and parts of England. Their increasing numbers provide ample hunting opportunities.

Sika deer can be found in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, moorlands, and grassy meadows. This diversity of terrain offers different hunting experiences and scenic landscapes. Sika deer hunting in the UK typically follows specific seasons, ensuring that hunting is conducted in a regulated and sustainable manner. These seasons help conserve the population and allow for ethical hunting practices.

Hunting Sika deer in the UK can be an exciting and challenging endeavor. The choice of hunting methods for Sika deer in the UK can depend on various factors, including the terrain and your personal preferences. Here are some effective hunting methods often used for Sika deer:

Spot-and-Stalk in more open terrain can also be effective. Using binoculars or spotting scopes to locate Sika deer from a distance and then approaching cautiously to get within range for a shot has proven itself many times. Sika deer are known for their alertness and wariness, so stalking requires stealth, patience, and knowledge of their habits. Move quietly through their habitat, stay downwind, and use cover to get within shooting range. High Seat or Tree Stands also work. Setting up a high seat or tree stand can be advantageous, especially in woodland areas. Elevated positions can provide better visibility and reduce the chances of being detected by the deer. Calling works as well, especially during the rut (breeding season). Using calls such as Sika deer-specific calls or imitating their vocalizations can help attract them within shooting range. There are also opportunities for driven hunts with beaters and other hunters pushing Sika deer toward waiting hunters.

In addition to hunting Sika Deer, hunters can also take advantage of other opportunities such as Roe Deer.

Steeped in a rich cultural history, the United Kingdom needs little introduction. Consisting of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, Great Britain has 7 big game species that can be pursued. For Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer there is no country in the World better than England to shoot a goodt rophy, with a 5th of the World’s population of CWD living across 3 counties in England. The red deer stalking culture in Scotland; in some cases still using a pony, is something unique to only the Highlands, and despite the smaller heads compared to Southern England’s World Class medals, the stalking experience here is something to behold. With strong populations of introduced Sika Deer in Scotland, Ireland and England, with both Roe and Fallow throughout the mainland, a number of trips are required to understand the United Kingdom’s full sporting potential. The British invented Shotgun Shooting for sport, and nowhere else on earth is it possible to experience such great traditions in the hunt; whilst the same time experiencing great sport, than on a English driven game day.

The UK offers a variety of beautiful landscapes where roe deer can be found, from woodlands to open countryside, providing a scenic backdrop for hunting trips. The country boasts a wide range of landscapes and natural features, making it an appealing destination for hunters. The UK is known for its picturesque rolling hills and countryside, particularly in regions like the Cotswolds in England and the Scottish Highlands. These areas offer scenic beauty with lush green fields, meadows, and woodlands. It has a long coastline with stunning coastal landscapes, including dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and picturesque fishing villages. The coastline of Cornwall, the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, and the Northern Irish coast are notable examples. It is broken up with extensive woodlands and forests, like the New Forest in England and Trossachs National Park in Scotland. These areas provide rich biodiversity and are often visited for outdoor activities. The UK offers beautiful and diverse landscapes for hunting, making the experience enjoyable not just for the hunt but also for the natural surroundings.
