Available Alaska Deer Hunts --- Search HF Aventures
Sitka blacktail deer populations remain stable across coastal Alaska. Success rates continue to rise and fall based on the previous year’s winter and are rarely affected by hunting pressure. Recent harvest numbers for the popular units report that in the 2023 season, approximately 3,700 were taken on Kodiak Island (unit 8), 4,500 deer were taken on the A-B-C Islands (unit 4), and 1,350 deer were taken in Prince William Sound (unit 6), which are all still below the long-term average. General harvest seasons run from August through December in most areas with bag limits of up to four bucks in some units. Non-residents are still restricted to a one buck bag limit in unit 8 (Kodiak and surrounding islands).
