Sitka blacktail deer harvest numbers remain flat across coastal Alaska. The Kodiak area (unit 8) reported 3,700 deer taken in 2024 while the ABC Islands (unit 4) harvest slightly decreased to 4,200 deer taken. Prince William Sound (unit 6D) reported the biggest decline in harvest with only 1,000 deer taken. These harvest numbers are below long-term averages, but are still indicators of successful hunts for all. General harvest seasons run from August through December in most areas with bag limits of up to four bucks in some units. Non-residents are still restricted to a one buck bag limit in unit 8 (Kodiak and surrounding islands). However, proposals will be voted upon to increase the non-resident bag limits at the March 2026 regulatory meetings of the Board of Game.
