Alaska Plains Bison Hunting

Available Alaska Bison Hunts --- Search HF Aventures

Wild, free-ranging Plains bison inhabit the areas of Farewell, Chitina River, Copper River, and Delta Junction. The Chitina draw hunt is no longer available in the draw. All other hunts are controlled through the draw for both residents and non-residents, with a slight reduction of total permits for this year. Most applicants apply for the Delta Junction area hunts due to the fact that the hunting area is located in close proximity to the Alaska Highway and it does not require remote airplane charters. Huntin’ Fool Adventures is not aware of any licensed outfitters for the Delta Junction area hunts. The other two bison herd areas will most likely require charter airplanes, boat services, trespass fees, or an outfitter to access the bison hunt areas.

If a $60 application makes sense for you, definitely consider applying for bison in Alaska. Odds are extremely slim, but it is one of the few remaining free-range bison hunts available in the country. The logistics associated with killing a bison in the backcountry and returning home with the trophy and the meat may be overwhelming for even the most experienced hunter, but it will surely be an Alaskan adventure.
