Polaris Ranger Crew XD 1500

After using the 2025 Polaris Ranger XD 1500 NorthStar Edition on my late season hunts this past year, I can confidently say this machine is a game-changer for serious outdoorsmen. I put it through its paces in rough backcountry terrain, cold morning starts, and heavy hauling, and it lived up to the hype.
 

PERFORMANCE & POWER | Polaris Ranger Crew XD 1500

Right out of the gate, the 1500cc ProStar engine showed its muscle. With 110 horsepower and 105 lb.-ft. of torque, this machine hauls gear, game, and passengers with ease and will feel more like a full-size vehicle than it will an off-road vehicle. The most noticeable difference is that of the STEELDRIVE transmission which feels and operates very differently than traditional rubber belt transmissions. I noticed smoother low-speed control, which was especially useful creeping through the woods or navigating rocky inclines. With only one forward Drive gear, it makes it easy to let the vehicle do the work and takes some of the guesswork off of the operator’s plate.
 

COMFORT & CAB FEATURES

One of the biggest selling points of the NorthStar Edition is the fully enclosed cab with heat and A/C. Let me tell you, on those freezing early-morning drives to the glassing knob, the heated cab and heated seats were worth it. When it came time to hit the main dusty Forest Service roads, windows were rolled up and we kicked on the A/C unit. No more leaky cab enclosures or rattling windshields, this cab is sealed up tight.
 
I enjoyed using the Crew six-seater model, even when hunting solo or with a hunting buddy. Being able to keep my weapon, tripod, and backpack within the enclosed cab outside of the dust and rain is always my preferred way to travel. When it came time for the fourth season deer hunt, Bransen Jackson from the HF Team took the Ranger to Colorado ready for the late season snow and mule deer rut. With nothing but rave reviews from him, the Ranger performed in the most extreme of situations absolutely flawlessly, “When I needed power, the machine delivered with that and then some. When I was cold after a few long hikes in the snow, the heater made short work to warm me back up. Finally, when it came time to haul my deer out with all my gear, it had all the room I needed as well as the power to do so. Once you hunt in this amazing machine, you’ll begin to wonder how you ever did it before. A++ to Polaris on this one.”
 

HANDLING & DURABILITY | Polaris Ranger Crew XD 1500

Polaris really built this full-size model as tough as you would hope for. Whether I was busting through mud, snow, or rocky roads, the suspension and ground clearance handled it like a champ, riding more like a long wheelbase truck than a typical side-by-side. Reports have it that Bransen also used the factory-installed winch to save himself more than once, whether it was pulling downed trees out of the way or getting himself unstuck from deep snowbanks.
 
The 2025 Polaris Ranger XD 1500 NorthStar Edition is hands down the “cat’s meow” of the side-by-side vehicles made for hunters. If you’re looking for a rugged, powerful, and comfortable machine to haul gear, navigate rough terrain, and keep you comfortable in any weather, this is probably it. The price is steep, but considering the performance, durability, and comfort, it’s worth every penny for those who demand the best in the field.
