I bought my Fierce Firearms .300 RUM for my first mule deer/elk hunt that took place in November of 2018. The guys were great to me, and the rifle arrived and was exactly what they had promised. After some time at the range, I was very comfortable with my new gun and shooting at distances I had never attempted before.
On the second day of my hunt, we spotted a mule deer that we decided to take at just under 500 yards. I had never taken an animal at that distance but was comfortable with my gun and that distance after my practice. I dialed up the yardage and dropped my first mule deer with one shot. It was the longest shot I had ever taken.
Two days later, while hunting for elk, we spotted a shooter. After a short stalk to a flat area where I could get prone, we decided to take the shot. I took my first elk at 970 yards. Just two days after my first mule deer at the longest distance I had attempted, I took my first elk at almost twice the distance.
This was the hunt-of-a-lifetime. I am very thankful to the guides who put me on animals and the spots to take them. I am also very thankful for the guys at Fierce Firearms for building me a gun that will do it all.
