Leupold VX-6HD Gen 2 Review

The VX-6HD Gen 2 improves upon the industry-leading performance of its predecessors and delivers new features and enhancements that hunters worldwide will value. No detail has been overlooked. New is the innovative CDS-SZL2 dial, which eliminates the need for tools when zeroing or changing custom dials. By unlocking the lever on the SpeedSet dial, hunters will be able to reset the zero on their elevation and windage dials without having to use tools. The new dial features Leupold’s push-button ZeroLock system, eliminating accidental dial movement. The VX-6HD Gen 2 also includes competition-grade precision adjustments and an integrated throw lever.

Some of the new features you will see in this Gen 2 version are the new turret caps, improved tracking, and a more scratch-resistant lens. One of the biggest new features with this scope is the tool-less turret dial, allowing you to adjust the turrets and zero position on the fly without Allen or TORX tools. Leupold SpeedSet Dial Technology 

Mounting the scope on my gun, the biggest feature I noticed instantly while at the range was the new SpeedSet Dial Technology. I was able to take my first shot and see the adjustments I needed to make. Instead of getting into my toolbox to pull out my Allen set to take off the turret to adjust, all it took was a simple push of a button and rotation of the lever to access the turret. This will be a game changer for every hunter not needing tools to make adjustments after a rough travel trip on your gun and verifying your zero.
 
With the added features of this new scope, it’s also going to come with Alumina Flip-Back lens covers. If you’ve ever used these, they are game changers for keeping your scope clean and clear of debris and moisture.
 
The scopes will also come with TWO free custom dials instead of the usual one. In the past when I had my free custom dial, I was always hesitant to cash it in because my load for my gun wasn’t perfected. They are now hoping these get used and people see how beneficial they are in streamlining your shot process.
