“If you want to put a pair of hunting boots through the paces, it’s hard to argue that Kodiak isn’t one of the best testing grounds on Planet Earth. When we started making plans with LaCrosse to test their newest boot, Kodiak was at the top of our list. Ultimately, we settled on a boat- based combination blacktail and fishing trip in early October.

After having been a part of their prototyping process, I can tell you that LaCrosse doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to getting it right! There were too many iterations of this new boot to count, but by the time I got my first pair to hunt with in August, they had the boot nearly dialed in. I was impressed with the comfort right out of the box, and I put some nasty miles on them without a single blister or hot spot. Having said that, I was a little nervous to arrive in Kodiak with yet another prototype that literally still had the tags on it. In spite of my concern, on day one, I slipped into the brand new, never worn pair of boots and headed up the hill with the gang. Seven days later, I was still going strong without a single problem with the boots. They were comfortable, durable, and best of all, they were ridiculously waterproof.

On a boat-based Kodiak hunt, you are constantly wading, walking in swampy, wet conditions, and beating the crud out of the boot in massive fields of tangled alder and every other kind of brush that’s designed to destroy boots. In short, I can wholeheartedly endorse this boot as a fantastic option for everything from light mountaineering to backpacking, day hunts, and more. This mid-height boot took care of my feet and ankles more like a full-height robust hiking boot, but it did so at about 2/3 of the weight and required no break-in.” – Jerrod Lile, CEO & Hunt Advisor
