“When the opportunity arose to get my hands on Best of the West ALTOPO rifle, I was excited, to say the least. I had heard a lot of talk about this system and wanted to see if it lived up to all the hype. My first impression was that it is a solid built, lightweight setup with a great feel and balance to it, not to mention it’s got a great look with the topographic map design on the McMillan stock.

At the range, the ALTOPO performed as advertised. With a slight adjustment to the Huskemaw turret for the elevation, we were ringing steel out to 1,000 yards with just a few rounds. After seeing how well it shot at the range, we decided to take the ALTOPO on a spring black bear hunt in Wyoming to really test it. Eight days later with three shots fired, we had three bears down and three very happy hunters.

The ALTOPO endured sunshine, rain, snow, mud, and even sliding down a slick, muddy hillside in a pack one evening. Regardless of the condition, the rifle was tough, reliable, and consistent. If you are in the market for a new rifle, take a look at the ALTOPO. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll have a great rifle to pass down to the next generation one day.” – Logan Hedges, Hunt Advisor
