ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter guides free-range Sika deer, which can be hunted in only a handful of places in the United States. The operation works highly productive private properties with habitat managed specifically for this species, and the attention paid to that ground is what separates it. Trail cameras run year round, and herd management is handled with an eye toward healthy populations and predictable deer movement rather than short-term results. Scouting is hands-on and ongoing, so hunters end up in locations chosen for a reason. Hunter numbers in camp are kept deliberately low, which keeps the emphasis on the quality of each hunt rather than how many can be run through in a season. Mature stags are the objective.

HUNT DETAILS:
These guided free-range Sika hunts take place in classic marsh and woodland habitat, which is where this species does best. Sika are elusive but remarkably vocal, and hunters regularly hear the whistles, bugles, and growls that set them apart from anything else in North America. Mornings are typically spent on travel corridors where deer move between bedding and feeding areas, while evenings are hunted over managed feeding locations. Hunters sit ladder stands, lock-on stands, box blinds, or ground blinds depending on the property and the conditions, and stay on stand through the end of legal shooting light to make the most of every sit. Getting to those setups may involve a truck, a utility vehicle, or a boat, since some of the better locations are remote. A strict four-point minimum is enforced to protect herd quality, and hind harvest is limited to select hunts. Archery, muzzleloader, and rifle hunters are all accommodated, in three-day and five-day packages.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging is provided close to the hunting areas, which keeps the drive short on both ends of the day. Evening meals are included for hunters staying in camp, while breakfast and lunch are prepared individually in a fully equipped kitchen, so hunters can eat on their own schedule around morning and evening sits. Laundry facilities are available during the stay. Room arrangements depend on group size and may be private or shared. Camp is kept small on purpose, with only a limited number of hunters at any given time. If capacity is full, nearby lodging is available and the outfitter can make recommendations.
