DESCRIPTION:

This Desert Bighorn Sheep hunt takes place in Old Mexico, in the state of Sonora. This is one of our endorsed outfitters that is a family-run operation that has been in business in Mexico for over 35 years. One of the brothers has been guiding sheep for 35 total years as well. They have access to some of the best private concessions and areas that Mexico has to offer, with an area that covers over 200,000 acres of some of the best free range ranches that exists in Sonora. These ranches are full of prime opportunities for not only Desert Bighorn Sheep, but also Mule Deer and Coues Deer, which can be added onto your hunt after your sheep is harvested. Their ranches produce world-class trophies of all three, and their photos speak for themselves.

To date they have experienced 100% success with their Desert Sheep clients, and rams have averaged between 160" to 170", with rams scoring over 170" harvested every year. It's not uncommon to glass anywhere from 3 to 4 rams a day, up to 10 or more on some days. With the balanced management plans that are in place, quality and quantity are on the upper end of the scale, and clients have true opportunities at harvesting a record book ram. Be prepared for long days glassing and moving from range to range and canyon to canyon. Once a ram is located, you will coordinate and plan your stalk and then navigate your way through the desert valley's getting as close as you can to anchor your ram of a lifetime. Compared to other mountain sheep or goat hunts, this hunt is on the moderate/difficult scale, consisting of driving, walking, and hiking, but at a much less difficult level than those in other locations around the world. The terrain is very accessible, and has proven to be a great option for those that may have knee, leg, or joint problems, or for those that are later in their years but still have the desire to hunt sheep.

The outfitter is allocated a select amount of sheep tags each year, and in most cases hunts should plan to be booked at least a year in advance due to the high demand that has built up over the past 30+ years with this outfitter. Sheep can be hunted November through March, and all of their hunts are guided by experienced Mexican guides, with at least one english-speaking guide present at all times.

The accommodations are very comfortable ranch houses that are equipped with all of the amenities from home. When it comes to the food, this outfitter knows how to do it right, and it's not uncommon that clients leave Mexico having added on a few pounds. This Desert Bighorn Sheep hunt is one of our select opportunities for trophy class rams, with a guaranteed tag, and with an amazing outfitter.
