ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter has been in business since 1984 and offers hunts across Texas and parts of New Mexico. The majority of the big game hunting is conducted on private ranches leased for a specific hunt or species, which gives the operation flexibility to match a hunter to the right ground rather than working one property for everything. Huntin' Fool has worked with this outfitter for more than fifteen years without a single complaint, and clients keep returning year after year, which is the clearest measure there is. He is a member of Safari Club International, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a former South-East Director of the New Mexico Council of Outfitters and Guides.

HUNT DETAILS:
This mule deer hunt takes place in West Texas near Alpine, on one hundred fifty thousand acres of private, low-fence land. Hunters fly into El Paso or Midland, each about two and a half hours out. The property runs the full range, from ground that looks like antelope habitat to rough, steep canyons that hold aoudad. Cover shifts from cedars to live oaks to straight desert. This is the Chihuahuan Desert, high and dry in both vegetation and climate, with rolling hills and plains broken by mesas. Success on mature bucks runs near one hundred percent, and the reason is restraint. Only four mule deer come off this ranch in a year. Hunts are guided two hunters to a guide, with one on one available on request. The package also covers javelina, hogs, and varmints, and hunters have the option of adding free-range scimitar horned oryx, a herd now more than two hundred fifty strong that is managed for trophy hunting.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging is a comfortable ranch house with three separate bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, so hunters get a real room rather than a bunk in a shared space. Meals are home-cooked and served at the house, and there have been no complaints on that front in the years Huntin' Fool has worked with this outfitter. Accommodations, meals, and guide services are all included in the hunt, so nothing needs to be arranged or paid for separately once a hunter arrives. With only a handful of hunters on this ranch in a given year, the house never feels crowded and evenings stay quiet.
