HUNT DETAILS:
These Aoudad hunts are true free-range sheep hunts conducted on large private ranches with excellent sheep populations and strong trophy potential. Aoudad, also known as Barbary sheep, are one of the most exciting and challenging free-range hunting opportunities available in the United States. They live in rugged, dry, broken country and offer hunters a physically engaging spot-and-stalk hunt that feels very similar to a traditional mountain sheep hunt.
The outfitter has access to a large amount of private sheep country, giving hunters multiple ranch options based on physical ability, expectations, and the overall style of hunt they are looking for. Some ranches provide a more demanding and physically challenging hunt, while others can offer a more moderate experience. Regardless of the ranch selected, each property is known for healthy sheep numbers and legitimate trophy opportunity.
These hunts are offered as 1-on-1 guided, 3½-day hunts with four nights of lodging. The outfitter is also capable of accommodating groups, making this a good option for hunters who want to hunt individually or travel with a group. Hunters should expect to glass extensively, cover country by vehicle and on foot, and make stalks when mature rams are located. This is a real sheep hunt, and being physically prepared will add greatly to the overall experience and success.
Aoudad can be hunted during multiple timeframes, with preferred hunt windows generally taking place in the fall and spring. Fall hunts may provide the opportunity to see rutting activity, while spring hunts are often focused on bachelor groups of rams. Both timeframes have produced excellent success in the past.
Hunters should be prepared for longer shooting opportunities, with many shots ranging from 250 to 500 yards depending on the situation. Quality optics, a flat-shooting rifle, dependable gear, and time spent practicing before the hunt are all important. A rifle chambered in 6.5 PRC or larger is recommended, along with premium ammunition designed for reliable terminal performance.
The hunt package includes the guided hunt, four nights of lodging, three meals per day, full guide service, field care of the animal, basic taxidermy preparation, and delivery of the trophy to the outfitter’s preferred taxidermist. Not included are the required hunting license, taxidermy, trophy shipping, transportation to and from the airport, alcohol, and gratuities.

In most cases, hunters will fly into a major commercial airport, rent a vehicle, and drive to a designated meeting location, where a member of the outfitter’s team will lead them safely to camp or the ranch headquarters.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Aoudad are classified as an exotic species in Texas, which means there is no traditional state-regulated hunting season for them. However, this outfitter generally conducts Aoudad hunts during preferred fall and spring windows when hunting conditions and trophy opportunity are strong.
Nonresident hunters will need the appropriate short-term special hunting license that covers Aoudad, exotics, and similar species. This license is not included in the hunt price and must be purchased separately by the hunter prior to the hunt.
