ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter is based outside Buffalo, Wyoming, and guides mule deer, whitetail, antelope, and turkey. The hunting takes place in the Big Horn Mountain region and other parts of the state, all on well-managed private ranches held under lease. The owner is a Wyoming native who has hunted this country his entire life and has been guiding since he was eighteen, which gives him a working knowledge of the local game that is hard to match. He covers every part of the process, from pre-hunt preparation and hunting technique through firearm and archery safety, equipment, field dressing, and caping for mounts. Herd quality management is a priority across the leases, and the approach throughout is practical and ethical.
HUNT DETAILS:
These whitetail hunts are conducted entirely on private land, and a great deal of the hunting is glassing hayfields and creek bottoms where deer feed and travel. Deer numbers on these ranches are high, and the buck quality reflects strong genetics paired with deliberate land management. Bucks in the one hundred thirty to one hundred sixty inch range are commonly harvested. Rifle and archery hunters both have options. Rifle hunts put hunters in position for shots typically running one hundred fifty to two hundred fifty yards, while archery hunters hunt from ground blinds and tree stands set along well-traveled routes. There is also a separate hunt in the Wind River area, where whitetails in the one hundred forty to one hundred sixty class live along irrigated meadows and the hunting is spot and stalk. That one comes with a riverside lodge. Success rates on these hunts have been exceptional. All of it is fully guided.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging and home-cooked meals are provided on these hunts, so hunters are not booking rooms or hunting down a restaurant after dark. On the Wind River area hunt, hunters stay in a riverside lodge, which is a step up from standard hunt lodging and a pleasant place to end the day with the river right there. Meals are prepared on site and served daily. Because everything is arranged by the outfitter, hunters can arrive with their gear and nothing else to figure out. Evenings are spent with the rest of the group going back over what everyone saw that day.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
